Why am I hearing from Recruit Esports?

If a message, text or email brought you here, this page explains who we are, how we got your name, and how to check that a coach is real.

Who we are

Recruit Esports is a service that helps college esports programs find high school players. Coaches at colleges use it to look at league results and to message students who are open to hearing from them.

You did not sign up for a mailing list. You are hearing from us because a college program found your league results and your contact setting says you are open to being reached.

How your league is connected

Your state league shares match results with us so college programs can find players. You agreed to be contactable when you registered with your league; you can turn it off anytime.

We show the league that reported each result and the date, so you can see where every number came from.

It costs you nothing

Recruit Esports is free for students and families, always. College programs pay for access; we never charge you and never will.

Colleges are the ones who pay. That is how the service runs without charging students or families.

What colleges can and can’t see

Coaches reach you through Recruit Esports, by email to a forwarding address or by a message on the site. Every message is logged, your real email stays hidden, and a parent you link is copied.

Your first name and in-game nameYour last name
Your record ID, school, state and graduating yearYour personal email address
Your league results, with the league that reported them and the dateYour phone number
Anything you added yourself, labeled as added by youYour Discord handle, unless you share it with that program

You can share your real Discord or email with one program, but only after you have replied to them, and only if you choose to.

Contact opens on August 1 of your junior year. Freshmen and sophomores can be found by colleges but cannot be messaged.

Check a coach

Three checks take about a minute. If any one fails, do not reply, and tell a parent or guardian.

  1. Look for the verified badge

Every real coach shows “Verified staff at” and the name of their college. No badge, no match to a college, no reply.

  2. Open the college’s own staff page

The badge links to the college’s own staff or team page, which opens in a new tab. Check that the coach’s name is listed there.

  3. Make sure it came through Recruit Esports

Coaches reach you through Recruit Esports, by email to a forwarding address or by a message on the site. A first message from a personal account, a text or a social app did not come from us.

Red flag rule
A real college coach will always reach you through Recruit Esports first. Anyone who asks you to move to private DMs early is a red flag.
How to check a coach

How to turn contact off

  1. Sign in below with your league account.
  2. Open Contact in your Recruit Esports account.
  3. Switch contact to closed. Colleges can no longer message you, and your record stops showing as open.

A parent or guardian you have linked can switch contact off too, but only you can switch it back on. Anything already sent stays on the record.
